JOB OVERVIEW:

The Senior Survey Specialist is part of the Global Marine Operations team. The Senior Survey Specialists develops cost effective and efficient offshore Marine survey solutions within the constraints of industry, client, and internal specifications as part of an integrated project / tender team. As a position in Marine Operations, the Senior Survey Specialists plans and supports the execution of marine related survey operations in support of offshore project execution and should be prepared to support offshore projects globally when and as needed.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Land or Hydrography Survey, Marine Science, Geomatics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in land and marine surveying within the EPCI industry, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects
  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and guidelines e.g., IMCA and/or International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards, Marine Spatial Planning (MSP), and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices
  • Proficient in using industry-standard survey equipment and software, including GPS, GNSS, Single/Multibeam Echosounders, various survey sensors, geophysical survey equipment, and new tech photogrammetry and scanning surveying techniques
  • Familiar with Mapping software like AutoCAD, Global Mapper, GIS, tidal and bathymetry software
  • In-depth knowledge of land marine survey methodologies using ROVs and Installation Vessels, data processing, and quality/safety control techniques
  • Strong understanding of subsea infrastructure, offshore construction, and installation processes
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented and analytical mindset, with a high level of accuracy and precision in survey data analysis and reporting
  • Up-to-date certifications in relevant surveying technologies (e.g., Land and Hydrographic Surveying, Subsea Positioning) are an added advantage
  • A proactive and curious attitude, continuously seeking improvement and innovation in land and marine survey practices
  • Ability to work in challenging onshore and offshore environments and adapt to variable working conditions and schedules
  • Professional certifications in marine surveying, such as RICS Chartered Surveyor or similar, would be advantageous
  • Previous experience working in one or more of the following roles: Offshore surveyor, Offshore Party Chief is advantageous
  • Note that this role is not a Marine Class Surveyor position. This position is that of a Subject Matter Specialist in Offshore Survey Operations

Responsibilities
  • Conduct precise and comprehensive marine surveys, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations including geotechnical and or geophysical, pre-lay surveys, site debris surveys, post lay surveys, as-built surveys, free span surveys, and the like
  • Lead and oversee all survey activities within the EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation) projects, providing expert guidance and support to the project team
  • Serve as the survey subject matter expert within a project / tender team and function as the primary liaison between the project team and the client marine survey technical authority
  • Utilize advanced surveying equipment, software, and techniques to accurately collect and analyze marine survey data, including bathymetry, geophysical data, and subsea infrastructure
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to define survey requirements, objectives, and deliverables for each project phase
  • Plan, organize, and execute survey operations, such as pre-installation surveys, subsea positioning, route surveys, and as-laid/as-built surveys, metrology, while ensuring compliance with project specifications
  • Manage and interpret survey data and prepare detailed reports, charts, and visual representations, highlighting findings, anomalies, and potential obstacles
  • Conduct quality control checks on all survey data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain survey documentation, and survey equipment readiness, manage and coordinate survey-related contractors or business partners
  • Abreast with the latest advancements in land and marine survey technologies, methodologies, and regulations, and propose innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Mentor and train junior survey team members, fostering their professional growth and ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols
  • To be based at worksite based on project requirements, onshore and/or offshore as needed
