Job Description:

The primary purpose of the Sr. Sustainability Coordinator role is to support sustainability initiatives at Fortis jobsites, work collaboratively across other Fortis teams to provide sustainability education and support, and manage the reporting of Fortis’s data center clients’ sustainability requirements under the direction of the Senior Sustainability Manager.

  • Support Fortis construction teams in delivering client-driven sustainability initiatives – including measuring jobsite emissions, construction waste management, lower carbon construction materials, and other.
  • Manage sustainability reporting requirements for large scale data center campuses, ensuring data is collected, QA’ed, and reported in a complete and timely manner. Includes construction waste, water, energy, and embodied carbon.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of Fortis jobsite and company-wide sustainability standards for carbon, water, materials, and wellness.
  • Build relationships with site teams and other Fortis team members to vet sustainability initiatives on projects.
  • Support LEED construction credit documentation process for relevant projects.
  • Support sustainability proposal language development with an understanding of clients’ sustainability goals.
  • Support project interviews and business development efforts.
  • Implement trade partner training and data collection processes for project sustainability goals and requirements.
  • Mentor and support newer team members, helping train them on Fortis sustainability initiatives and navigate the different teams at Fortis.
  • Research strategies to lower Fortis’s overall environmental footprint and reduce wasteful practices.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned, relevant to the achievement of the position’s and team’s objectives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant sustainability or construction role.
  • Knowledge of green building and/or ESG standards (LEED, Living Building Challenge, CDP Reporting, EcoVadis, SBTI, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and operate as a peer leader in a team environment.
  • Ability to work successfully on a construction jobsite with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Fortis policy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • LEED AP preferred or similar related accreditation.
  • Experience in the construction, architecture, or manufacturing field preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed in a professional office environment. Role is stationary, often standing or sitting for long periods of time, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Communication with internal and external contacts, including speaking and hearing is required. May occasionally push, pull or lift up to 25 lbs.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 50% travel to client sites.
  • All Fortis positions require some level of driving.
