Description

Devout Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior System Administrator to support the day-to-day operations and long-term performance of IT systems for a Federal Client. This key personnel role will be responsible for ensuring optimal functionality, availability, and security of both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-built business applications within a hybrid on-premise and Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
The ideal candidate will manage system configurations, perform software updates, resolve system issues, and lead efforts related to system backups, disaster recovery, and performance tuning. This position requires technical leadership, independent problem-solving, and a deep understanding of modern system administration tools and practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in system administration, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise systems.
  • Proficient in managing hybrid environments leveraging Microsoft Azure, including VMs, Active Directory, Resource Groups, and networking.
  • Experience with system automation tools (e.g., PowerShell), backup/recovery tools, and enterprise patch management.
  • Familiarity with managing application and web servers (e.g., IIS), performance monitoring tools, and endpoint management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) practices and change control procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in federal agency or public sector IT environments.
  • Familiarity with IT security frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53), vulnerability remediation, and system hardening practices.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to lead technical teams and coordinate with non-technical stakeholders.

    Pay: $125,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year

Compensation Package:

Schedule:

License/Certification:

  • AZ-104 Azure Administrator Associate certification (Preferred)
  • AZ-305 Azure Infrastructure Solutions certification (Preferred)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Washington, DC 2023

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain system software and application environments including operating systems, COTS, and custom applications.
  • Manage and monitor Azure-based infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking components.
  • Plan and implement system patches, updates, and upgrades, ensuring minimal impact to operations and compliance with ITA policies.
  • Diagnose and resolve system-level software and application issues, escalating as needed to engineering or vendor support teams.
  • Implement and manage system backup and recovery procedures to ensure data protection and operational resilience.
  • Monitor system performance, usage, and availability using industry-standard tools; recommend optimizations as necessary.
  • Manage system configuration files and user permissions in accordance with security best practices.
  • Collaborate with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to support application deployments, integrations, and configuration changes.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, procedures, and issue resolutions.
  • Mentor junior administrators and provide direction on technical tasks and troubleshooting.
