Tasks and Responsibilities: The Spaceopal Senior System Administrator is responsible for designing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing an organization’s IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, reliability, security of servers, network, cloud services and enterprise systems while providing technical leadership and support to IT operations. This role includes leading and administering infrastructure projects, automating operational processes, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and providing advanced technical support to company employees to resolve hardware, software, network, and system-related problems efficiently. The Senior System Administrator also collaborates with cross-functional teams, ensures compliance with IT security standards, and mentors junior IT staff by sharing technical knowledge and best practices. Key Responsibilities Administer servers, storage systems, and network infrastructure. Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, network devices, and firewalls. Ensure optimal performance. Monitor infrastructure health and application performance. Analyze logs, troubleshoot outages, and improve reliability. Manage on-premises or hybrid environments. Maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware - vSphere, Hyper-V, or Proxmox VE. Manage Linux and Windows environments such as Ubuntu Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Windows Server. Provide troubleshooting assistance and help with diagnosing technical issues within the system. Ensure compliance with security policies and standards. Create and maintain comprehensive system architecture, configuration diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Develop, test, and maintain robust backup, recovery, and contingency plans to guarantee data integrity. Required Qualification and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience 7+ years of experience in system administration and IT infrastructure management 5 - 7 years of experience leading projects and supporting highly secure IT infrastructure environments Exceptional analytical thinking, problem-solving under pressure, project management capabilities, and strong verbal communication Experience managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange Offline and identity services. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing, and switching. Knowledge of backup solutions (e.g., Veeam). Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with modern databases (especially timeseries e.g. InfluxdB) Ability to work both independently and collaboratively High attention to detail and strong security awareness Work location: Spaceopal headquarter (Munich, Germany). It could be necessary to participate to meetings at European locations.
