Senior System Administrator | Windows/SQL/Web Server Platforms

We're looking for a Senior System Administrator to joinour state government client who supports multiple agencies.

You'll be working across Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS, and the Azure stack, with real scope to drive improvements, lead migrations and upgrades, and shape how the team approaches current technology.

This role will be a 12 month contract with view to extend yearly. Applicants must be based in Brisbane, with full work rights to be considered. Applications close on the 10th AUG.

What you'll be doing:

- Windows, SQL, and web server administration - provisioning, configuration, monitoring, support

- Active Directory admin (GPO, security groups, identity)

- Azure & AWS platform work (EC2, VMs, Azure SQL PaaS, SQL MI)

- Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Azure Runbooks, Terraform, and GitHub Actions

- Leading or contributing to system upgrades, migrations, and new tech rollouts

- Producing system design documentation and mentoring other team members

What you'll bring:

- Solid hands‑on experience with Windows Server and the SQL Server stack

- Intermediate to complex PowerShell scripting - not just one‑liners, but scripts with proper error handling, functions, and logic

- Experience using GitHub for version control

- A structured approach to problem‑solving and the ability to pick up new tools quickly

- Comfortable communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
