Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proof of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) bachelor’s degree in network, software, computer, systems, electrical or a suitable engineering or technical field required to support Land C4ISR. (copy will be required)
  • Must have demonstrated Professional Engineer License within Canada.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that already hold an existing Secret level clearance with PSPC/PWGSC. (contract requirement)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Systems Architect for Military Command and Control and Info Systems, or ISTAR systems.
  • Must have 10 years’ experience in at least 1 of the following criteria:
  • Analyzing, designing and/or implementing solutions in one or more of the following areas:
  • Command and control communication and information systems within a distributed platform environment.
  • Command and control communication and information systems within a client/server environment.
  • Military ISTAR systems.
  • Joint or Allied C4ISR Interoperability solutions using NATO Standardization Agreements; and
  • System management solutions (tools and processes) for communication & information systems and/or ISTAR systems.
  • Demonstrated work experience in system integration, verification and validation, for hardware and software components (COTS and/or custom developed) in new or existing systems, in one of the following areas:
  • Command and control communication and information systems within a distributed platform environment.
  • Command and control communication and information systems within a client/server environment.
  • Military ISTAR systems.
  • Joint or Allied C4ISR Interoperability solutions using NATO Standardization Agreements; and
  • System management solutions (tools and processes) for communication & information systems and/or ISTAR systems.

Responsibilities
  • Build a tactical communication system architecture based on project requirements and DND operational view provided by the project staff.
  • Participate in TCM project management weekly working groups.
  • Participate in TCM technical weekly working groups.
  • Participate in the evolution of LCSS (Land Command Support Systems) MD (Mobile Domain) level design artifacts including - mission threads, system use cases, services and Enterprise Architect System Model to meet TCM requirements.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations for the evolution of LCSS MD to the TCM system level architecture. Recommendations, at a minimum, will outline anticipated issues and list design options to address those issues.
  • Comment and provide recommendations on an approach to evolve the LCSS MD System Management (SM) tools to a modern tool suite aligned with the chosen TCM system level architecture. Recommendations, at a minimum, should factor in TCM systems requirements, TCM architecture and the design and development work required to implement the TCM specific system management tools. Participate in TCM technical reviews (e.g. system requirements reviews, design reviews, integration and test readiness reviews)
  • Support the TCM Engineering team in the evolution of existing engineering processes and define engineering process improvements in the context of TCM requirements.
  • Support the development of the TCM architecture to ensure that its system components not only interoperate correctly with one another but also appropriately interface and operate with external systems when required. Support work will include drafting the principles and guidelines used to govern the evolution of the TCM architecture and its system components over time.
  • Provide architectural advice to non TCM stakeholders and other DLCSPM stakeholders, including those developing request for proposals to acquire system components
