YOUR SKILLS & ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in automotive system safety engineering, with a focus on braking or chassis systems or related complex systems
  • Deep understanding of ISO 26262 and functional safety lifecycle
  • Good understanding of Embedded controls and electronics
  • Depth and experience in Vehicle Dynamics
  • Experience with safety analysis tools (e.g., Medini, APIS IQ-FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, domestic
  • This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Safety Engineer to lead safety analysis and risk mitigation efforts for braking systems within our chassis system engineering and system safety team. This role is critical to ensuring the safe operation of advanced braking technologies across a range of vehicle platforms, including conventional, hybrid, and electric architectures.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Lead system safety activities for braking systems in accordance with ISO 26262 and other relevant safety standards
  • Develop and maintain safety concepts, hazard analysis, and risk assessments (HARA) and System safety work products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, controls, and validation to ensure safety goals are met with consistent and sufficient safety strategy implementation
  • Establish safety requirements traceability to design and validation activities,

partnering with engineering teams though the product development life cycle

  • Support safety case development and documentation for internal and external stakeholders to facilitate timely delivery of safety critical system content
  • Ensure functional reliability, regulatory compliance, necessary fault coverage, diagnostics, and functional availability for new braking systems
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for System Safety status and issue resolution related to braking systems, providing regular updates and strategic insights and system safety process guidance to program teams and leadership
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, FMEA sessions, and safety audits
