Description Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator Department: Information Services Reports To: Director of Information Services FLSA Status: Exempt TS Range: 11/12 DOQ ($83,084.03) Opening Date: January 30th, 2026 Closing Date: February 13th, 2026 SUMMARY Provide senior-level administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-call support for the organization’s infrastructure systems and related applications. This position is responsible for the design, security, reliability, and performance of servers, virtualization, identity, and core infrastructure services. The Senior Systems Administrator provides technical leadership, mentors junior systems administrators, and works closely with the Director of Information Services to ensure systems are secure, resilient, and well-documented. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Administer and support Nutanix AHV infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, replication, and performance optimization Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and apply patches, and resolve hardware and software issues Maintain and support Active Directory, including users, groups, GPOs, DNS, and authentication services Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and related security controls. Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability across all infrastructure platforms Perform system backups, recovery operations, and participate in disaster recovery testing Support and troubleshoot common network protocols and services including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, and secure remote access. Assist with endpoint and network security monitoring and respond to security alerts and incidents Support phishing investigations, malware response, system isolation, and incident containment activities Maintain accurate system documentation, including server roles, configurations, dependencies, and procedures Follow change management processes for system modifications and maintenance activities Analyze infrastructure and make recommendations to IT management regarding improvements, risks, and future needs. Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiencies. Serve as a technical escalation point for Help Desk and junior systems administrators. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior systems administrators, promoting best practices, documentation, and skill development. Participate in audits, assessments, and security reviews as assigned. Provide professional customer service and collaborate effectively with internal and external team members. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities but provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior systems administrators and helpdesk. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree and a minimum of three years of experience in the information technology field. Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years’ experience in information technology field OR Associate of Arts and a minimum of seven years’ experience in information technology field OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of nine years’ experience in information technology field. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid WA state Driver’s License. CompTIA, MCSA/MCSE or M365, MS Azure and ITIL v4 Foundation certifications preferred. Background check required.
