Senior Systems Assurance Engineer - Logan & Gold Coast Faster Rail Project Queensland’s Most Complex Rail Program UGL is home to one of Australia’s largest in-house engineering teams, delivering complex transport and infrastructure projects nationwide. Based out of the Brisbane office, your first assignment will be the Logan & Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGCFR) Project, a city shaping rail upgrade currently in detailed design and moving steadily toward construction. Commenced in 2024 and running for approximately 5 years, the project will expand the rail corridor from 2 to 4 tracks, upgrade stations, remove level crossings and future proof the network for ETCS Level 2 signalling. About the role In a systems assurance engineer role at UGL, you’ll provide systems engineering and systems assurance support across major infrastructure projects. On LGCFR, this role will focus on helping the project clearly define what needs to be delivered, making sure risks are understood, and ensuring the right evidence is in place to prove requirements are met. You’ll work closely with design disciplines, safety, assurance, interfaces and project teams, supporting everything from stakeholder needs and requirements definition, through design assurance, verification and validation, and into testing, commissioning and in‑service readiness. Leading a small team of interface engineers, you’ll work closely with Design, Systems Engineering, Safety, SESA and external suppliers to identify and resolve interface risks early, align stakeholders and ensure the right assurance evidence is in place. Key responsibilities Lead stakeholder needs analysis and manage requirements from definition through to traceability. Support and embed systems assurance processes, ensuring requirements are understood and applied across the project. Plan and deliver verification and validation (V&V) activities, including compliance matrices, reviews and reporting. Manage interfaces, integration and cross‑discipline alignment to support safe and compliant design outcomes. Contribute to assurance and regulatory evidence, including audits, safety certification and overall fitness‑for‑purpose. Knowledge of requirements management, verification and compliance processes. Familiarity with systems engineering standards (ISO 15288, EN 50126/8/9, EN 61508). Able to manage multiple technical and assurance activities in parallel. Strong communicator, comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced project environment with a range of stakeholders.
