POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Systems Developer designs and implements complex applications and systems integrations, solves challenging technical problems, and maintains highly available, secure, performant, and reliable software systems. This role collaborates cross-functionally to deliver consistent quality across projects. The Senior Systems Developer is an expert technical resource for information about agency software systems. This position reports to the Software Architect.
The Senior Systems Developer demonstrates strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with the foresight to identify risks and opportunities and propose effective solutions. Excellent attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage time and priorities effectively is vital along with a positive attitude and openness to feedback. While technical expertise is essential, the Senior Systems Developer requires a collaborative mindset, commitment to continuous learning, and a focus on growth, which contributes to both individual impact and broader team progress. MassHousing operates under a hybrid work model; therefore, employees are expected to work on-site according to a schedule determined in collaboration with their manager and based on the needs of the role. To support effective onboarding, new employees may be required to work in the office more frequently during their first 90 days.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • At least 5 years of software development experience
  • Advanced understanding of and professional experience with Object Oriented Programming
  • Advanced understanding of and professional experience with web application architectures and design patterns
  • Advanced to expert level experience with C#, ASP.NET Core, and Entity Framework
  • Database modeling, normalization, programming, performance tuning, ETL, and advanced querying with SQL Server
  • Advanced to expert level JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, React, Vue.js, Angular
  • Advanced to expert level web UI/UX experience with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for Agile planning, Git version control, and CI/CD
  • Development, deployment, and management of applications in Microsoft Azure
  • Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from, the United States without sponsorship

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Power Platform
  • Familiarity with affordable housing, mortgage lending, and/or real estate
