PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Central One’s IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, and end-user environment. This role provides advanced technical expertise across servers, storage, virtualization, databases, M365 administration, telephony, and desktop technologies. Acting as both a hands-on engineer and a technical leader, the Senior Systems Engineer ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of systems that support business operations while also providing escalated support for complex end-user issues. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Systems Architecture & Design a. Design, implement, and maintain enterprise systems including servers, storage, virtualization, cloud services, and databases. b. Develop and maintain technical roadmaps aligned with organizational goals. c. Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve performance, reliability, and security. 2. Infrastructure Operations & Support a. Manage Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, group policies, and identity management. b. Administer Virtual environment (VMWare, Azure) c. Administer Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune). d. Provide escalated support for end-user devices (desktops, laptops, mobile devices), applications, printers, and peripherals. e. Oversee Unified Communications and Call Center systems (IVR/VoIP/PBX) and ensure integration with collaboration tools. f. Monitor and support network services (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, VPN, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP). 3. Database & Application Management a. Administer and support enterprise databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or other platforms). b. Support line-of-business applications and integration with core infrastructure. c. Ensure backup, recovery, and performance optimization for databases and critical applications. 4. Account & Identity Management a. Create, modify, and de-provision user accounts across Active Directory, M365, and enterprise applications. b. Maintain role-based access controls, ensuring security and compliance. c. Conduct periodic access reviews and audits. 5. Security & Compliance a. Enforce security standards and collaborate with InfoSec to remediate vulnerabilities. b. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices. c. Implement patch management and endpoint protection strategies. 6. Automation & Optimization a. Develop scripts and automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.) for system administration and provisioning. b. Optimize infrastructure and end-user environments for performance and cost efficiency. 7. Vendor Management a. Responsible for managing IT vendors including ensuring adherence to SLAs and OLAs, tracking and analyzing vendor performance to ensure vendor compliance with the responsibilities outlined in the contract and statement of work. b. Participates in RFP development and vendor selection; conducts due diligence on vendors, including identifying and managing risk. 8. Leadership & Collaboration a. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across enterprise IT systems. b. Mentor junior IT support staff. c. Document infrastructure, standards, processes, and knowledge articles. d. Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives. 9. Serves as community role model and participates in volunteer activities to support the People Helping People value and enhance the Credit Union’s visibility. 10. Stay current on job-related equipment, procedures and/or information by reading handouts/memos, attending meetings and seminars and other necessary means. 11. Adhere to all applicable Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulations. 12. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Pay Range: $110,000 - $140,000 per year commensurate with experience Schedule: This position is eligible for hybrid work with 3 days a week on-site required. Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required Experience: 5-8 years of experience in the areas of network administration and vendor relations. Skills: Demonstrate capacity for organization, prioritization, and management in a dynamically changing environment; Excellent written and oral skills; Excellent computer literacy; Excellent negotiation skills; Ability to supervise and motivate subordinates; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Systems Experience: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive), Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager, Windows Server, Active Directory & Group Policy, VMware vSphere / ESXi, enterprise networking technologies (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls), VoIP and unified communications platforms (Genesys, Five9s, or Cisco Unified Communications), Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions, endpoint management and device provisioning platforms, and financial services core banking platforms such as Fiserv DNA and associated ancillary systems.
