THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to work in a dynamic team supporting the delivery of Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program’s. BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off the shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for ADF personnel. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs.
You will apply your extensive Systems Engineering knowledge and leadership ability to support a multidisciplinary engineering team through the full lifecycle of an engineering change from initial proposal development and design conception through to incorporation of changes to land-based military platforms.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in complex technical development and integration projects.
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management.
  • Experience developing and executing against Systems Engineering artefacts including Engineering Management Plans; Integration Plans; and Verification and Validation Plans.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and coordination qualities, working on behalf of the Engineering Team Manager, to deliver technical solutions.
  • Experience with Change Management processes and progressing change management artefacts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage, influence and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience in the estimating, planning, managing and reporting progress of technical work scope is desirable.
  • Experience with defence projects is highly regarded.
  • Experience in supporting projects in an ASDEFCON contract environment highly regarded.
Responsibilities
  • Development of System Integration Program Plans that describes systems and processes to be used for undertaking system integration, with a particular focus on laboratory environments and test tools necessary to perform complex systems integration.
  • Design and establishment of laboratory environments to meet program needs using a Systems Engineering lifecycle.
  • Management of designs through the system engineering reviews and business gate process, including design definition, development approval, integration, verification and delivery.
  • Development and review of design specifications, design notes, test plans, test procedures, test reports and other design artefacts.
  • Mentoring of less experienced engineers including teaching, guiding and coaching.
