Description inTEST Thermal Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our global engineering team. This position plays a critical role in the design, development, and integration of advanced thermal systems and reports directly to the Director of Engineering. The role involves close collaboration with our engineering teams in Mansfield and Malaysia, and our global sales, marketing and customer support teams, supporting global initiatives and ensuring technical alignment across projects. As InTest Thermal Solutions transitions to a 6S strategy (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety), this position will serve as a change agent within the Engineering department and in support of Manufacturing. The successful candidate will help drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and cultural transformation aligned with 6S principles. Requirements Systems & Thermal Engineering Lead the design and development of precision temperature control systems including ThermoStreams®, chillers, thermal chambers, chillers, hot/cold plates, and benchtop test systems. Engineer solutions using mechanical refrigeration, cryogenics, conduction, convection, liquid cooling, and gas cooling technologies. Perform system-level analysis, modeling, and simulation to optimize thermal performance across a range of -185°C to +500°C. Advance the selection and application of compliant refrigerant fluids in ultracold chillers to meet evolving F-gas regulations and environmental standards. Develop and validate control strategies for temperature regulation and thermal cycling. Refrigeration Engineering Design and optimize refrigeration systems for low and ultra-low temperature applications. Select and integrate compressors, evaporators, condensers, and refrigerants to meet performance and environmental standards. Troubleshoot refrigeration circuits and implement improvements for efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. Stay current with advancements in refrigeration technologies and eco-friendly refrigerants Project Management & Global Collaboration Lead engineering projects from concept through production, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables. Develop project plans, track milestones, and coordinate efforts across internal and international teams. Collaborate closely with the engineering team in Mansfield and Malaysia to share best practices, align on technical goals, and support joint development efforts. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders. 6S Strategy & Change Leadership Champion the adoption of 6S principles within Engineering and support Manufacturing in implementing process improvements. Identify opportunities for standardization, efficiency, and safety enhancements. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Facilitate training, workshops, and cross-functional engagement to embed 6S practices. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field. 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a strong focus on refrigeration and thermal systems. Proven experience managing engineering projects and working in international teams. Expertise in refrigeration system design and thermodynamic analysis. Proficiency with CAD tools, thermal simulation software, and system modeling. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills Familiarity with semiconductor testing environments and thermal cycling protocols. Experience with embedded systems and control algorithms. Knowledge of regulatory standards (UL, CE, RoHS, F-Gas). Experience with lean manufacturing or 6S implementation. PMP certification or formal project management training is a plus.
