About the role The Tactical Data Links (TDL) Australian System Engineer is a critical member of L3Harris Data Link Business, providing front line integration, maintenance, engineering support and training to our Australian customers using L3Harris’s Link-16 terminals and toolsets. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in military applications, recently specializing in Tactical Data Links, including Link 16 operations, planning, troubleshooting, and testing. Knowledge of other combat systems or ground data link host capabilities is highly desirable. This role requires strong judgment, initiative, and technical expertise to identify issues and recommend effective solutions. Applicants should be comfortable working independently as a remote resource and collaboratively within a global team. What the role will involve The responsibilities of your role will include the following: Background in Military Communications (C4I) Engineering experience in the installation, repair and general support of Tactical Data Link equipment Link 16 Operational management and planning Recent operational experience with L3Harris TDL Software programs Joint Interface Control Officer qualification (highly desired) Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent relevant experience Local and International Link 16 military operations and exercise experience Understanding of MIDS / STT Host systems and Platform types Candidate must have strong computer and analytical skills Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering or equivalent relevant experience Australian Military experience. Australian Citizenship required Active Military Clearance (Negative Vetting 1) Ability to travel in support of Australian domestic tasks What you’ll bring The role requires the following experience and skills: Experience with MIDS-LVT, MIDS-JTRS and Small Form Factor Link 16 radios and support equipment COMSEC / High Assurance Crypto Equipment (HACE) experience Understanding of software reprogramming of military radios Self-motivated with ability to acquire and transform system level test data into meaningful performance evaluations of L3Harris products in integrated platform environments (e.g. fixed and rotary aircraft, ships, ground sites) Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in written and oral form and convey concepts and provide technical information to new and current users of Tactical Data Link systems About L3Harris Australia L3Harris Australia excels as a prime defence contractor, providing integrated tech solutions for over four decades.
