Description
MTSI is seeking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) vital mission to develop, test, and field an integrated, layered Missile Defense System (MDS) that protects the United States, its deployed forces, and allies from missile threats across all ranges and phases of flight. As a Senior Systems Engineer/Scientist, you will contribute to engineering efforts that enhance the existing MDS and drive the development of future MDS capabilities through advanced technologies, data science, and innovative solutions. Responsibilities: Provide specialized engineering support focused on innovation, science, and technology initiatives. Contribute to the development of an integrated MDS strategic architecture roadmap, outlining future disruptive capabilities and evolution. Support the integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and advanced analytics, to enhance multi-domain situational awareness and enable real-time data processing and decision-making. Collaborate with a high-performing team to identify methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to analyze structured and unstructured data sets. Develop cutting-edge algorithms for ballistic missile defense discrimination, scene and event characterization, contextual learning and estimation, sensor-to-sensor handover, and sensor signal/image processing. Conduct technical assessments, schedules, and implementation plans for program technology test plans, objectives, and scenarios. Participate in program and technical activities, including technology evaluations, demonstrations, risk management, risk reduction, and transition planning for future capabilities and emerging technologies. Plan, direct, and execute complex studies using advanced data modeling methods and procedures. Recommend project guidelines and define product requirements to support program offices and MDA’s technical interests. Assist with technical and export control reviews of technology project documentation, publications, and public information releases. Engage in advanced research collaborations with accredited universities and federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs) across disciplines such as lasers, electro-optic/infrared sensors, materials, simulation tools, rocket motors, and propellants. Required Qualifications: Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI access. 15+ years of experience analyzing, designing, implementing, and maintaining complex algorithms for defense capabilities. Bachelor’s degree in physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (master’s or PhD highly desired). Experience using statistical computer languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets. Ability to create algorithms and data models to forecast outcomes and build predictive, prescriptive, or descriptive models. Knowledge of machine learning techniques (e.g., clustering, decision tree learning, neural networks) and advanced statistical concepts (e.g., regression, properties of distributions, hypothesis testing). Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams. Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in collaborative environments. #LI-JJ1
