Description

Snail Games strives to create the new high bar for gameplay experience in online gaming. We have been a global developer and publisher of digital entertainment since 2009 and are committed to pushing the boundaries of the industry. We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a calm, experienced technical leader embedded in a small and fast-moving tools team. You’ll work alongside ambitious junior and mid-level engineers, guiding technical execution and helping the team avoid common pitfalls while also owning your own area of deep expertise.
This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who takes pride in supporting others while still delivering high-quality systems themselves. You don’t need to be loud, flashy, or managing people—you lead by example, bring clarity under pressure, and know how to help others grow without slowing them down.
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Beverly Hills, CA
Primarily remote; in-person presence required for select meetings and events.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years of experience in systems, engine, or tools development
  • Proven track record of delivering stable, performant code in production environments
  • Deep experience with C++ plus familiarity with scripting languages like Python, JS, or C#
  • Excellent debugging, profiling, and optimization skills
  • Comfortable advising others and offering feedback without ego or micromanagement
  • Strong communicator who can explain complex technical ideas clearly and calmly
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, or guiding engineers in high-performance teams
  • Familiarity with one or more game engines (Unreal, Unity, proprietary)
  • Strong awareness of team dynamics with the ability to recognize when processes or communication are breaking down and help guide others toward constructive solutions
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical mentor and steadying influence on a small engineering team
  • Help junior and mid-level engineers grow by sharing best practices and quietly redirecting risky decisions
  • Contribute directly to development of full-stack tools and systems for internal use
  • Identify architectural or process pitfalls early and suggest pragmatic solutions
  • Collaborate with a senior principal architect and lead developer to translate vision into stable, maintainable execution
  • Take ownership of one or more key technical areas and ensure they remain clean, reliable, and extensible
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful engineering culture with high technical standards
