Job Description
The salary for this role is £54,376 (inclusive of a Market Premium Payment (MPP)). Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role can be based at any of the following sites: Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.

THE ROLE

As Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing Systems Engineering services across a range of UKAEA projects, focussing initially on support to the JET Decommissioning and Repurposing programme. You will provide hands-on Systems Engineering support to projects at all lifecycle stages, from establishing the initial outline requirements, through the design and implementation phases, to verification that the final delivered solution meets the original design intent.
The post holder will support projects that span from the long-term development of new facilities to short term intensive upgrade, repair and replacement of existing systems and to the decommissioning of legacy equipment and buildings. They will be concerned with Systems Engineering support to the development and management of the design and realisation of complex systems and must be able to demonstrate an ability to deal with ambiguity and the application of Systems Engineering to emergent technologies. They are required to demonstrate an understanding of the Systems Engineering toolkit and bring with them some practical experience of having applied this in a range of different situations. They need the flexibility to apply Systems Engineering ideas pragmatically, including in non-standard circumstances and to define efficient processes for decommissioning.
