Description
This role will see you enhance your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s Mine Advisory team. You will collaborate with talented professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities. What you’ll do: We’re looking for a motivated and proactive Senior Tailings Engineer to join our Mine Advisory team, supporting the delivery of specialised tailings and mine waste management projects. As a Senior engineer within our Melbourne tailings team you'll support clients and projects, delivering exceptional consulting services and supporting junior team members in their development. * Supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of tailings and mine waste projects. * Assisting with project scheduling, cost tracking, procurement, and reporting. * Preparing technical documentation including scopes of work, design inputs, risk assessments, and progress reports. * Participating in field investigations, site inspections, monitoring campaigns, and operational assessments. * Helping manage stakeholder engagement with clients, contractors, regulators, and internal specialists. * Ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with industry standards and best practice. * Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery and technical workflows.   About You * Degree qualifications in Engineering (Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, Environmental) or a related discipline. * 7+ years experience working in mine tailings-  ideally with exposure to both a technical engineering position and project management. * Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast‑paced environment. * A keen interest in mine tailings. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * A collaborative approach and willingness to learn from senior technical specialists. * Ability to travel to site as required.    Why WSP? * Work alongside industry-leading tailings and geotechnical professionals. * Exposure to a diverse range of projects across Australia and internationally. * A supportive team culture that values development, innovation, and technical excellence. * Opportunities for structured career growth and professional accreditation. * Flexible working options.   Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
