Description:
Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant (Assistant Manager)
Location: London (Hybrid Working, 3 days in office)
Role Type: 12 month FTC
Requirements & Skills:
- 2 to 5 years in tax (preferably in practise or insurance company)
- Corporation tax compliance experience
- Project management experience
- Technical tax research and advice
- Some experience with Employment Taxes (preferable)
- Financial statement close process support
- Recognised professional accounting/tax qualification or part time qualified professional
- Good understanding of corporation tax aspects
- Familiarity with UK/US GAAP
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills
- Ability and comfort level in researching inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices, and new technologies
- Highly proficient in MS systems such as Excel and TR systems such as OneSource
- Good analytical skills
- A high level of numeracy and literacy
- Attention to detail
- Effective time management skills with the ability to manage priorities to meet strict deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Teamwork - able to collaborate and work flexibly with others
- Ability to work independently and autonomously with minimal supervision
- Problem solving skill
Responsibilities:
ROLE OBJECTIVE:
Assist the tax team with the UK corporation tax compliance and reporting. Ensuring efficient and timely delivery of various corporation tax projects. Managing Employment Tax reporting and compliance for the Group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Planning:
- Contributes to, monitors, and advises on the plan developments and changes in order to ensure relevancy, compliance, and optimal delivery
- Assists in the preparation and implementation of the operational team plans to ensure these are in line with wider business strategy and reflect key priorities
- Determines own work priorities and activities in line with agreed plans to ensure the achievement of the function’s objectives
Policy, Process and Procedures:
- Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
- Contribute to the review and refinement of process, procedures and systems to continuously improve the efficiency of accounting activities
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus:
- Provide advice, guidance and information on financial matters to support decision making and improve understanding on financial management
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including internal (e.g., Tax, Group Finance, Internal Audit, Group Investment/Treasury, Group Systems) and external auditors and advisors, to ensure service delivery meets customer expectations
- Develop relationships in line with the business plan for the division to support the achievement of its objectives
Technical Performance:
- Support the Group Head of Tax on tax matters arising on various ad hoc projects and taking ownership of these to ensure they are effectively managed
- Support the Group Head of Tax on accurate and timely submission of the employment tax returns to relevant Tax Authorities (excluding Payroll tax returns)
- Provide ad hoc support and input into corporate tax reporting and compliance matters
People Management:
- Develops own knowledge of standard procedures and processes
- Act as a point of reference to guide and advise others to ensure the sharing of knowledge and best practice
- Supports others in the team where appropriate to assist in the achievement of their objectives
