Description

Responsible for sales tax compliance, including the accurate and timely preparation of all US Sales and Use Tax returns. Prepare monthly journal entries for all tax payments; reconcile the sales tax general ledger accounts. Prepare various tax forms with attention to detail. Investigate indirect tax notices and issues pertaining to US Sales and Use Tax. Provide training and support to a team of junior/indirect tax analysts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of GAAP and current accounting practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
  • CPA designation or in progress is preferred
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with property, sales and use and fuel taxes is preferred

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for sales tax compliance, including the accurate and timely preparation of all US Sales and Use Tax returns
  • Assist with audit defense for Indirect taxes. Gather audit documentation, prepare audit workpapers and identify & research audit issues
  • Assist with M&A and divestitures, including due diligence, integration and implementation
  • Responsible for monthly indirect tax account reconciliation for US Sales and Use Tax
  • Serve as subject matter expert and assist other departments on various tax issues, including AP, AR, Legal, Finance, Treasury, HR, Customer Service, Fleet and Internal Audit
  • Communicate with external stakeholders including vendors, customers, auditors to resolve questions or issues
  • Participate in the calculation of indirect tax reserves and budgets
  • Research various tax issues including billing, exemption opportunities, and nexus requirements for states and localities
  • Train indirect tax analysts and provide support/guidance
