POSITION OVERVIEW:

The applicant will support and assist the CIBC Mellon Recordkeeping Tax Services team and Director in providing technical expertise and oversight of all tax form processing for CIBC Mellon Recordkeeping clients. Responsible will include but not limited to, updates on controls and tax reporting functions to various key stakeholders, communicate with regulatory offices, and provide effective support to internal teams. You will be involve with managing system and vendor testing for tax reporting functions as well as performing and coordinating year-end tax reporting functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 - 6 years in Canadian Tax related functions
  • University degree or equivalent training
  • Proficient in Unitrax tax reporting functions and applications
  • Extensive experience in dealing with the CRA and MRQ tax offices on issue resolutions
  • Strong understanding of the Recordkeeping business and related experience, including trade processing and estate settlements and reporting
  • FATCA and CRS due diligence and reporting experience
  • Analytical thinker and effective communicator
Responsibilities
  • Act as subject matter expert with investor tax reporting functions and regulatory filings to the federal and provincial agencies
  • Review and analyze regulatory and industry reporting requirement changes and assess impact to our business model
  • Maintain and monitor system parameter setups for tax form generation on the TA system and Print vendor system
  • Prepare, report and reconcile the withholding tax payments to the CRA and MRQ tax accounts
  • Manage the processing and reporting of output and filings to the investors and government bodies
  • Provide support and response to internal teams and Client inquiries related to investor tax reporting and filing functions
  • Manage CIBC Mellon Specimen Plan Trustee reporting functions and transfers
  • Manage the TFSA Reject clean list and execute the estate tax reporting required activities throughout the year
  • Participate in UAT testing and assist RK teams as required
  • Perform reconciliation functions on all required government BN accounts
  • Collaborate and assist with team members in dealing with problem resolutions and providing smart recommendations
  • Escalate client issues where necessary – communicate clearly, concisely and thoroughly
  • Assist Manager in implementing new procedures and controls
  • Projects and tasks as assigned
