SENIOR TAX ASSOCIATE:

On behalf of our Professional Services client, Procom is searching for a Senior Tax Associate for a 6 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

SENIOR TAX ASSOCIATE - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Tax Associate will be involved in enhancing and maintaining tax software products by working closely with engineers to ensure accurate tax calculations and form updates. The role involves collaboration with tax authorities and customer support teams to ensure product certification and resolve client issues efficiently.

SENIOR TAX ASSOCIATE - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience preparing and/or reviewing federal and provincial tax returns, such as T1/TP-1
  • Strong background in tax research and analysis and a deep understanding of Canadian tax law
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information and complex tax issues in non-technical language for consumption inside and outside of the organization
  • Comprehensive understanding and use of tax preparation software (experience using TurboTax, WealthSimple Tax, TaxCycle, TaxPrep, or ProFile is an asset)

SENIOR TAX ASSOCIATE – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or equivalent
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or enrollment in CPA certification program is an asset
Responsibilities
  • Identify, analyze, and accurately update tax calculations and forms within the software by creating detailed specifications for engineers
  • Test tax calculations, user experience, and form display changes within the software
  • Apply tax, accounting, and business knowledge to develop and improve new software features
  • Work with federal and provincial tax authorities to certify tax products
  • Participate in the development and documentation of key operational processes, checklists, and product specifications
  • Work with customer support representatives to resolve customer issues and deal directly with clients, as needed
  • Effectively prioritize individual and team work to ensure delivery of product features with the highest quality and customer value
