As a Senior Tax Research Analyst with The Tax Institute (TTI), you will conduct independent, in-depth research and analysis on complex federal and state tax matters. In this role, you will both work independently and collaborate closely with other research team members to proactively identify and resolve tax-related issues, ensuring full compliance with established research standards. You will deliver well-reasoned, thoroughly evaluated responses to technical tax inquiries from field management and tax professionals. Your responsibilities will include analyzing and documenting the implications of proposed, enacted, or expiring tax legislation, and producing comprehensive technical materials on advanced tax topics. Additionally, you will develop and present tax law content for internal training sessions and external media engagements, as needed. Day to day, you’ll… Research, analyze, and evaluate current developments on federal and state tax issues preparing documentation and analysis for use by internal departments and tax professionals Train, monitor and coordinate the day-to-day activities of a tax research team to identify and resolve tax related issues, ensure adherence to research standards, and provide assistance to other research team members Perform independent research, analysis, and planning on complex federal and state tax and financial issues; interpret situations, draw conclusions, identify fundamental tax points, research and interpret tax code, regulations, and case law, and make recommendations as to the best tax treatment for the client Research, analyze, and evaluate current year tax forms to identify and document tax changes that impact forms supported in H&R Block’s tax software products and other internal tools Research and answer tax-related questions from online, chat, gen AI, and tax office support functions as needed to meet service level agreements (SLAs); ascertain the exact nature of the issue, research applicable tax law and regulations, and make recommendations as to the best tax treatment Monitor and analyze new tax developments to determine effects; develop written analysis of new tax law, rulings, case law, and regulations for dissemination to TTI, tax office associates, other corporate departments, and the general public Research tax and financial issues and provides explanations, analysis, and recommendations to both TTI and other departments Plan, research, develop, and write research projects and training materials related to tax topics, tax advice, or other financial issues; ensures projects are completed within established time frame Participate in media interviews and assist marketing and communications teams with tax accuracy reviews Write and publish online tax articles Utilize gen AI to work efficiently and test gen AI for tax use cases What you'll bring to the team... Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience Work Experience: Ability to clearly explain complex tax situations Ability to interpret, analyze, and correctly formulate solutions to highly complex tax situations Credential regulated under Circular 230 (Enrolled Agent, CPA, or Attorney) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) credential Demonstrated ability to effectively research complex tax issues and effectively communicate findings Demonstrated critical, conceptual, intellectual, and problem-solving skills Effective project management skills to complete assignments on time and within budget Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Knowledge of tax research principles, procedures, and techniques 5 years minimum related work experience Operational knowledge of tax law and regulations sufficient to understand and explain elements of personal, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, estate, gift, and international taxation Writing skills to explain complex tax information in a clear manner and in plain language It would be even better if you also had... Pay Range Information The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit. Pay Range $62,800.00 - $94,200.00/Yr.
