SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

You’ll hold a relevant degree, CA/CPA/CTA/MTax (or equivalent), and bring 4-5 years’ experience in tax compliance and advisory within a large corporate or Big 4 environment.

  • Knowledge of Australian income tax laws, and the ability to advise on and manage the practical implications for the business
  • Strong experience with tax compliance software
  • Ability to interpret financial data and experience in using accounting software (such as SAP S/4 HANA)
  • Experience in energy & resources industry is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex issues and requirements
  • Ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • “Can do” attitude and ability to drive continuous process improvement
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Group Tax provides trusted tax advisory and compliance services to both Origin and APLNG.
The team partners closely with the business to deliver value-add opportunities, manage tax obligations, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
As a Senior Taxation Consultant, you’ll support income tax and broader tax matters through both compliance and advisory work across the Origin and APLNG groups.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform tax effect accounting (TEA) for Origin and/or APLNG, including monthly TEA reporting and TEA analysis for the half-year and full-year financial results.
  • Review income tax return disclosures and workpapers, monthly instalment activity statements, annual withholding statements, and other income tax compliance lodgements and payments for Origin and/or APLNG.
  • Liaise with tax authorities in relation to reviews, administrative matters, and key taxpayer programs, such as the ATO’s Justified Trust Program.
  • Work with service providers and internal stakeholders to ensure Origin and APLNG comply with their tax obligations and resolving any issues impacting compliance.
  • Advise on tax issues, risks, compliance matters and regulatory changes impacting operational activities, contracts, systems, business processes, projects, and transactions undertaken by Origin and APLNG.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across tax reporting and compliance workflows to enhance efficiency and risk management.
