WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Our ideal candidate has experience providing high-quality administrative support for teaching and learning activities within a higher education environment, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with University stakeholders.
A high degree of initiative and self-management to deal with a wide range of tasks is critical to the role, as well as well-developed organisational, time management skills and ability to adapt to a changing volume of work.
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to liaise with a range of people internal and external to the University, and the ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
You will be self-motivated and flexible in responding to changing work priorities, with the capacity to work independently and as a member of a team and demonstrate a commitment to the delivery of excellent customer service and continuous improvement to the standard of service.

You will also have:

  • Extensive experience providing high-quality administrative support for teaching and learning activities in a higher education environment and/or a mix of relevant education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, with proven skill in solving problems and negotiating outcomes aligned to organisational policies and strategic priorities.
  • Highly developed organisational skills, with a proven ability to coordinate the efforts of others to ensure the timely delivery of programs and services in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience in planning and delivering end-to-end processes in a timely, efficient and accurate manner, including using and improving systems to enhance outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within broad procedures and effectively within a team to deliver high-quality service and outputs.
  • Highly developed communication skills and the ability to provide quality advice to internal and external stakeholders, including at senior levels.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a member of the Curriculum Delivery Support Team within the Academic Support Office (ASO), the Senior Teaching and Learning Officer plays a vital role in providing support for the administration of teaching and learning activities for the School of Social and Political Sciences.
Collaborating across the ASO, the officer focuses on delivering high-quality support for the administration of undergraduate, honours, and graduate coursework programs within the School and the wider Faculty. You will work closely with program directors and subject coordinators, providing high-level administrative support to ensure the seamless coordination of teaching activities.
With a diverse and engaging workload, you will manage a range of complex tasks, requiring a strong understanding of university policies, procedures, and teaching activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate and provide high level administrative support for complex programs to ensure optimal delivery of teaching and learning within the School.
  • Coordinate and engage in the delivery of teaching and learning support including the production of the timetable, student timetable assistance, timely results entry, support Board of Examiners meetings, and provide high level query resolution to program directors and subject coordinators.
  • Coordinate the administrative support for honours and Masters by Coursework minor thesis processes, such as Masters by Coursework minor thesis applications, allocation of supervisors, submission, and examination.
  • Provide high level support to program directors and subject coordinators relating to complex and/or high-volume enrolment considerations for compulsory, capstone, intensive, field work, internship, and specialist subjects.
  • In conjunction with the Academic Programs Team Leader, manage the resolution of complex queries raised by students, academics, faculty and Student and Scholarly services through the application of relevant policy and procedures.
