Job Description AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Advisor- Transit & Rail to support transit and rail projects across Massachusetts and the Northeast region. The ideal candidate will have experience in light rail and heavy rail operations, including systems that include traction power. Based in our Boston office, this role will provide strategic guidance, technical leadership, and client-facing expertise on high-profile transit infrastructure initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Support the technical delivery of transit and rail planning, design, and construction projects Serve as a subject matter expert on commuter rail, light rail, and subway systems Provide subject matter expertise in transit vehicle engineering, maintenance, and system reliability Advise clients including MBTA, MassDOT, CTDOT and regional authorities on infrastructure strategy, operations, and policy Support multidisciplinary teams on feasibility studies, environmental documentation, and engineering services Provide project management and engineering support for the oversight of Northeast Corridor activities, Amtrak activities, and assistance to MBTA Railroad Operations Guide compliance with FTA, FRA, and state regulations, on projects Support the business development and delivery of projects supporting traction power substations Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing and client presentations Mentor junior staff, engineering teams and foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field + 6 Years years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Strong understanding of FTA/FRA guidelines, and regional transportation systems Preferred Qualifications: PE license or AICP certification preferred Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills 20+ years of experience in transit and rail infrastructure, including planning, design, delivery, operation and maintenance Experience working with MBTA, MassDOT, or other New England transit agencies Strong analytical and diagnostic capabilities Excellent technical writing and documentation skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments Additional Information Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position Relocation is not available for this position About AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
