(Senior) Technical Expert, Wärtsilä 46 & 50
Technical Services is a globally recognised technical knowledge centre within Wärtsilä. Our primary mission is to offer comprehensive technical support to both internal and external stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of Wärtsilä’s products and solutions. We are committed to maintaining, developing, and ensuring the availability of technical knowledge and expertise efficiently.
We are now seeking a (Senior) Technical Expert, Wärtsilä 46 & 50 to join our skilled W46-W50 Global Technical Services Product team in Turku, Finland or Trieste, Italy. We encourage applicants of various seniority levels, as the title can be either Technical Expert or Senior Technical Expert.
The role is offered as a permanent contract, with the flexibility to work partially remotely in line with our hybrid work model. To service our customers around the world, international travel for approximately 30 – 50 days per year is required.
Responsibilities:
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As (Senior) Technical Expert, you will provide high-level technical support for our products to both external and internal customers throughout the product lifecycle. You will tackle complex technical issues, perform investigations and root cause analyses, and conduct field testing at customer sites when necessary. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical content for aftersales information, such as engine manuals and service bulletins.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Providing high level engine expert support for internal and external customers.
- Making product improvements and product documentation.
- Performing field testing of new products in the field.
- Making feedback analyses and product reports.
- Conducting site surveys and troubleshooting in the field.
- Participation in the introduction of new engine types and other products.
- Supporting new product commissioning.
- Following up and solving problems together with other Technical Departments.
- Actively engaging in own competence development and acquiring know-how within own expertise area.
- Being an innovative expert in Wärtsilä’s expert organisation.
THE FOLLOWING WILL ENABLE YOU TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
- BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education.
- Previous experience with 4-stroke engines, related auxiliary equipment, troubleshooting, or performance analyses.
- Motivation and genuine interest to work with 4-stroke engines.
- Experience with analysis and reporting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a service-oriented mindset to help provide the best possible service experience to our customers.
- Organised, proactive, and flexible way of working.
- Self-directed approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ambition to learn, adapt to, and develop new technologies.
- Proficient English language skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to travel 30 – 50 days per year.
