We are creating The Westpac Mesh, a digital platform where developers have a great experience building great software. Our team of elite engineers build and run a large, mission-critical microservices platform hosted across multiple clouds using a full-service mesh. They create automations, archetypes and investigate new tools and capabilities to being this platform to life and to help migrate our existing tenants to it. The lead engineer role combines the responsibilities of a technical lead with that of a coach and educator. You need to be happy and willing to work in a variety of disciplines and should expect to get stuck in and lead by example – this is a hands-on role. Responsibilities * First and foremost, build a great Platform that developers love! * Improve build processes, tooling & libraries to delight a large community of developers. * Facilitate communication within and across teams and ensure stakeholders are kept updated * Working closely with others to build a vibrant technical community What do I need? * A polyglot engineer with at least 10 years of experience * Strong knowledge of security practices, patterns and technologies * Strong experience in at least one cloud, such as Azure or AWS * Experience of containerised workloads in Kubernetes and preferably a service mesh * Passionate about system automation (Python, Ansible are a plus) and Continuous Delivery and Deployment at scale * Deep understanding of agile and the path to production * Ideally, you’ll be part of the wider technical community through things like MeetUps, having a side-project or as an open-source contributor Why join us?
