Job Description SGS are seeking a Senior Technical Manager to provide high-level technical leadership and support to our laboratories in Perth and across the APAC region. Reporting to the General Manager, this hands-on role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities include, however are not limited to: • Set up new equipment and implement analytical techniques using existing company methodologies. • Conduct regular technical audits and ensure compliance with global standards. • Troubleshoot analytical and quality issues across laboratory operations. • Travel to regional sites on a short-term basis to resolve technical or quality concerns. • Provide technical support and expertise to laboratories within the APAC region. • Assist in the training, mentoring, and professional development of technical staff. • Support laboratory commissioning projects and ensure successful start-up and training. • Collaborate with the Group Quality Manager to develop and validate new analytical methods where required. • Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Natural Resources Quality Management System. Qualifications The successful candidate will have: • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and implement best practice across multiple teams. • Extensive experience in commercial minerals laboratories, with a strong technical foundation. • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry (or equivalent) or significant demonstrable industry experience. • Comprehensive understanding of analytical methods and instrumentation used in minerals testing. • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). • Experience working within and improving quality management systems (ISO 17025 or equivalent). • A collaborative approach with a focus on innovation, quality, and operational excellence.
