TE WHIWHINGA A MAHI | THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Senior Technical Officer to join our P-8A New Zealand Team. You would be the primary on-site Point of Contact (PoC), coordinating with, and reporting to the P-8 RNZAF Engineering Manager based in Australia.
This role would be based at RNZAF Base Ohakea, located in the central North Island of New Zealand, embedded in the P-8A Capability Support Team (CST) of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
As a Senior Technical Officer - Mechanical Systems working in our team, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing and approving technical documentation for our NZDF customer in support of the new fleet of P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft. You will be reporting to a program engineer and working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technical officers. You will work with our customer to develop and deliver critical capabilities to support their missions.

As the Senior Technical Officer – Mechanical Systems you will:

  • Technical troubleshooting, analysis and investigations on P-8A aircraft systems.
  • Undertake technical information review, including review of Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins to assess, develop / promulgate / review designs and repairs.
  • Continuous Airworthiness Management engineering activities using the Defence Aviation Rules (similar to Defence Aviation Safety Regulations).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement for engineering processes and systems.
  • Engage effectively with team members, leaders and technical representatives.
  • Collaborate across different programs to drive technical excellence.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Strong aircraft technical knowledge, skills and experience (Defence aircraft preferred).
  • Satisfy Defence Security, Export Control requirements (Cert IV Aeroskills/equivalent).
  • Work independently and collaboratively to a very high standard.
