JOB DESCRIPTION

Technical Product Managers at U.S. Bank oversee the strategic product management for an assigned technical product line(s) in support of the Enterprise organization’s goals and market needs. Engages with key stakeholders to define, document, and prioritize features; ensures delivery of marketable capabilities for all U.S. Bank engineering teams while collaborating with agile teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

  • Expertise on the critical interdependencies among product model system elements that help and hinder performance; ability to plan and design solutions that synchronize resources to achieve business results using business metrics, key performance indicators design systems, service blueprints, and reusability.
  • Technical know-how understands the product technical architecture and understands the economics of technical investments.
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of target customer through internal/external research (e.g., creation of personas, story maps, product chartering/mapping experience).
  • Strong collaboration with software engineers to execute product vision and roadmap.
  • Preferred skills: product strategy, vision and planning, product discovery, product development, agile ways of working, enterprise technical alignment and performance measurement and optimization.

ABOUT THE TEAM:

U.S. Bank is seeking an experienced product manager with strong technical, influential, and strategic abilities to help drive the success of our enterprise technology initiatives. This role will initially sit within the Online Data Platform product management team with a focus on leading our online data processing and streaming technology solutions. The Enterprise Streaming Services layer (ESS) is a high-throughput messaging framework, and the Cloud Digital Artery (CDA), a scalable, flexible, metadata-driven event streaming mechanism by which events are collected and conveyed to downstream data stores for a wide variety of use cases— such as powering Digital experiences, customer profiling marketing analytics, payments, and others.
This role will oversee the end-to-end product management for these twin capabilities (ESS and CDA) and ensure the delivery capabilities while improving the efficiency and quality of our processes. As the key member of our product management team for our Online Data Platform, your role is pivotal to the success of our real-time banking outcomes and collaborate with multiple engineering teams while driving the strategic vision, priorities and roadmap. You will have an opportunity to define platform adoption strategies that keep and grow our customer base while improving our ability to better serve our customers at scale.
You will collaborate closely with customers of the CDA and ESS products/platforms to uncover improvement opportunities, increase adoption rates, address challenges, gather valuable feedback, and leverage data-driven insights to evaluate product usage and engagement.
You will develop expertise on the critical interdependencies among product model system elements that help and hinder performance; ability to plan and design solutions that synchronize resources to achieve business results using business metrics, key performance indicators design systems, service blueprints, and reusability. You will have the technical know-how to understand the product technical architecture and understand the FinOps of technical investments.

Responsibilities

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE?

  • 5+ years of product management experience working on real-time technologies, microservice architectures, or operational databases.
  • Masters Degree or Bachelors in Quantitative with equivalent exp.
  • Strong experience with messaging and queuing technologies (ex. Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ) and data processing technologies such as Spark and Flink.
  • Advanced product management skills with a strong product sense and working backwards from customer
  • Prior experience with relevant technology stack including: Cloud (Azure, AWS) , REST and GRAPHQL APIs
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like Cassandra and MongoDB , Full-text Search (one or more of Elastic, SOLR, Vespa), Highly-distributed relational databases, API frameworks like Spring Boot.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies (including Scrum & Kanban) and experience facilitating team events (including refinements, standups, planning, retros)
  • Knowledge of agile tools (including JIRA & Confluence)
  • Experience with writing business and technical requirements
  • Knowledge of open-source technologies relevant to modern web, mobile and microservice standards/best practices
  • Strong knowledge of technical product development practices, implementation, and strategic analysis
  • Well-developed effective presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
