JOB DESCRIPTION Serve as the main liaison for safety-related matters between third-party consultants, Seatrium, and engineering contractors on offshore wind, substation, and new energy projects. Review and evaluate Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs) from third-party safety consultants. Analyze safety study reports and provide critical technical feedback and risk mitigation recommendations. Develop and implement safety strategies for hydrogen, ammonia, and other alternative fuels, aligned with project decarbonization goals. Address technical safety aspects of integrating Energy Storage Systems (ESS) into offshore platforms. Manage interface coordination with topside contractors on safety-related engineering and design matters. Track and follow up on safety study recommendations, ensuring integration into engineering deliverables and project execution plans. Lead the development of design safety philosophies, tailored to the unique requirements of offshore wind, substation, and energy transition projects. Review and refine active and passive fire protection philosophies, including offshore-specific requirements (e.g., wind turbine and substation environments). Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering professional growth and technical development within the safety discipline. Adapt strategies and support team alignment with broader organizational goals and project plans. JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Process Safety, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in technical safety engineering, with a strong focus on offshore wind, offshore substations, or new energy projects. In-depth knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to the offshore wind industry, including IEC 61400 standards for wind turbines and specific offshore substation safety requirements. Experience in developing and reviewing safety cases, fire protection strategies, and emergency response plans for offshore wind farms and substations. Proven experience managing safety aspects of offshore substation engineering, including high-voltage electrical safety, lightning protection, and emergency shutdown systems. Strong background in safety study methodologies such as HAZOP, HAZID, and QRA, particularly in the context of New Energies, offshore wind, and substations. Proficiency in safety analysis software used in the offshore wind sector, such as DNV GL Synergi Life or similar specialized tools. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and provide mentorship to junior engineers. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Capable of performing under pressure and meeting tight project deadlines. Willingness to travel to offshore wind farm and substation sites as needed.
