The CI/CD team are responsible for promoting the CI/CD capability within the BNZ including providing the path to production pipelines and deployment tooling (Kubernetes and native cloud native technologies) and other ancillary tooling such as artifact stores, security/compliance scanning tools and source tools, and source control. CI/CD are part of the Engineering domain which is within the Bank’s Core Infrastructure Systems group. The team’s customers are internal teams, so they work closely with other platform, engineering, security, and domain teams. The role reports to the CI/CD Platform Lead, you’ll also be working with the CI/CD Principal Engineer and fellow CI/CD Technical Specialists. This role includes on-call support rotation shared with the team and has a responsibility to promptly respond to alerts to ensure we maintain service SLAs for our customers. This role can be based in Wellington or Auckland. It is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly. Anchor days in the office are Tuesday, Thursday and either a Monday or Friday. Delivering excellent technical experiences through CI/CD, removing complexity and enabling our customers to succeed by focusing on the things that matter most to them. This includes: 1. Measurable improvements in pipeline reliability and lead time, etc. 2. Growing adoption of CI/CD standards across teams. 3. Practical uplift of legacy domains through reusable patterns. 4. What technical skills are required for this role? Must haves: Strong understanding of software development lifecycle processes, and source control workflows. Knowledge of DevOps/Infrastructure (e.g. IaC, containerisation, Terraform, cloud platforms) Hands-on knowledge and experience in enterprise environments building and maintaining pipelines using CI/CD tools using Git, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Docker, Kubernetes, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, and Nexus Repository Manager or equivalent. Practical scripting and general programming knowledge (Bash, Golang, Java, Python, or similar) for pipeline and platform tasks. Experience embedding compliance and security scanning in delivery pipelines (e.g. container scanning, artifact controls, policy gates). Ability to troubleshoot build/deployment failures across app, infrastructure, and platform layers. Working knowledge of platform architecture concepts, especially for scalable shared engineering services. Proficiency in agile delivery practices: iterative development in scrum/kanban teams, sprint planning, user story refinement, and incremental delivery. In addition the following skills and experience would be advantageous: Previous Banking and/or financial services industry experience. Experience modernising legacy delivery patterns toward standardised CI/CD patterns. Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
