Description
SAIC is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to support our NAVWAR customer in Portsmouth, VA. This will be an ONSITE ROLE. JOB DUTIES: Performs desktop publishing for IETM development. Writes, rewrites, and/or edits technical documents such as operations and maintenance manuals, system administrator guides, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product/software developers, referring to technical specifications, engineering drawings, and DoD Instructions. Prepares materials in accordance with MIL-SPECs and standards. Conducts quality review and validation of materials. Supports Test and evaluation events for program milestones. REQUIREMENTS: BA degree (English, Journalism or Technical Writing) and six (6) years of experience in the technical data management of combat system acquisition and/or life-cycle programs, to include: writing/editing technical documentation, procedures and guidelines for C4ISR systems or equipment; years of experience accepted in lieu of degree. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have an active Secret clearance. Experience with MS Word, Visio, and Power Point: templates, section/paragraph auto-numbering, headers, footers, captions, complex tables, auto-indexing, fault logic and network diagrams, business charts, and graphs. Experience with Adobe Acrobat: pdf conversion, linking/bookmarking, fill-in forms, digital signatures, and certificates. Intermediate graphics development capability. DESIRED SKILLS: Background in logistics, spare parts, supply. Configuration management and document control process experience.
Responsibilities
The Senior Technical Writer will perform desktop publishing for Integrated Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development and create/edit various technical documents like manuals and guides. This involves acquiring subject knowledge from developers and ensuring materials comply with MIL-SPECs and standards while supporting program milestones.
