A little more about your role… WSP is seeking an experienced Senior Technician to join our expanding Roads business in Belfast. The successful candidate will carry out Private Streets Inspections for the Department for Infrastructure in the Belfast area. Your role will be at the heart of our high performing and supportive team, using your skills and expertise to help us maintain and improve the quality of our engineering outputs. You can expect your role to involve Overseeing/watching brief and Inspection duties on three types of site - Private Streets sites (including inactive sites as reported by the PS Database), Article 3(4c) sites, and Licensed sites (relating to planning applications). Inspections will include: inspection of materials, construction methods and layout, both vertical and horizontal, (including signing and lining) to ensure that they are in accordance with the determined drawing and the Construction Regulations; inspections for bond reductions and preliminary adoption (including the production of snagging lists and recommendations for reductions). Other Duties: liaison with developers/builders, liaison with appointed engineers on 3(4c) and licensed sites, attending site meetings, identification and notification of potential problems to the developer/builder, line manager and/or DC as appropriate. collation of paperwork for bond reductions and adoptions. preparation of bond estimates. liaison with Utilities (NIW) and potential supervision duties. management of inspection records/files and regular update of backlog sites spreadsheet updating Private Streets Database What we will be looking for you to demonstrate… Proficient in software such as AutoCAD, Level 4 qualification (or above) in a STEM based subject, or equivalent experience in an engineering technician role. Attained or working towards professional qualifications such as EngTech, with demonstrable progress. An understanding of highway engineering principles, including design techniques, standards, and procedures with the ability to apply this knowledge to small-scale projects or a limited number of moderately complex projects. Experience of data handling with MS Excel and/or other data-based systems Good communication skills dealing with clients, developers, consultants, elected representatives and the public.
