POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Senior Technologist at Philip Agar Architect Inc., you will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of architectural projects by applying your deep technical expertise. You will collaborate with project teams, architects, engineers, and clients to create and execute innovative and efficient design solutions. Your role will involve overseeing the technical development of designs, ensuring adherence to building codes and regulations, and managing the integration of advanced technologies into architectural practice. The Senior Technologist will also mentor junior staff and lead the implementation of emerging technologies within the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the technical development of architectural projects, ensuring compliance with design intent, building codes, regulations, and sustainability goals.
  • Provide expert technical advice and guidance throughout all phases of design and construction.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure seamless integration of architectural and engineering systems.
  • Develop and manage technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and construction details.
  • Utilize advanced technologies (BIM, Revit, parametric design tools, etc.) to optimize project delivery and design performance.
  • Oversee the production of accurate and detailed technical drawings and specifications, ensuring consistency and quality across project documentation.
  • Review and approve materials, construction methods, and project components in line with project requirements.
  • Conduct technical site reviews and inspections to ensure the design is being implemented as intended.
  • Act as a technical mentor for junior staff, providing training, guidance, and support in areas such as BIM, building systems integration, and construction techniques.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, technologies, and industry best practices to inform and enhance project delivery processes.
  • Manage and coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure the smooth progress of projects.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of internal technical standards, protocols, and workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in architectural practice, with a strong focus on technical design and delivery.
  • Advanced knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and materials.
  • Proficiency in BIM (Building Information Modeling), Revit, AutoCAD, and other relevant design and technical software.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
  • Experience in developing and managing technical documentation and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and implement innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Professional licensure or certification (e.g., Registered Architect, LEED accreditation) preferred.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and green building practices is a plus.
