JOB SUMMARY

At DSIT we’re all about improving people’s lives by maximising the potential of science & technology.
We accelerate innovation, investment and productivity through world-class science, research and development.
We use technology for good by ensuring new and existing technologies are safely developed and deployed across the UK, with the benefits more widely shared.
We are driving forward a modern digital government which gives citizens a more satisfying experience and their time back.
We do all this to enable the Government’s 5 national missions: kickstarting economic growth, making Britain a clean energy superpower, taking back our streets, breaking down barriers to opportunity and building an NHS fit for the future.
Above all, we focus on improving people’s lives. Whether it’s researching new treatments for disease, developing better batteries, reducing burdens through better public services, keeping children safe online, and much more, outcomes for citizens are at the heart of what we do.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Government Office for Technology Transfer (GOTT) is a delivery unit in DSIT that supports public sector research organisations to accelerate government’s innovations towards the market, to impact growth and deliver new products and services for citizens. These “Knowledge Assets” (KAs) are the different types of intellectual property that underpin new and improved technology, products and services. When successfully commercialised, they can help create new markets, new businesses and jobs, or give existing companies a competitive edge.
We are appointing a Grade 6 Senior Technology Transfer Strategic Partner (TTSP) to join the Technology Transfer Strategic Partnerships team in GOTT. This is a key leadership role, responsible for supporting a portfolio commercialisation projects from a range of public sector research organisation (PSRO) clients and leading a team of TTSPs to deliver measurable commercialisation outcomes.
You will work closely with PSROs to identify, protect and exploit their KAs, supporting the development of licensing opportunities, spin-outs, and routes to market. You will lead the prioritisation of team workload to ensure effort is focused on the most promising opportunities for commercialisation and private sector investment.
This role requires a blend of entrepreneurial thinking and public service delivery. You will need to identify and shape commercialisation opportunities while navigating the structures, responsibilities and values of the public sector. It is a chance to shape how GOTT delivers its ambitious strategy and to help build a more entrepreneurial culture across government, generating value from public sector KAs.
