Description

Design, deploy, and manage PostgreSQL databases with high availability, scalability, and performance. Administer and support MySQL and other secondary databases as needed. Lead cloud-native database deployments using AWS RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted databases. Plan and execute database migrations from on-premise to cloud or between cloud platforms. Manage Redis clusters for caching, session management, and performance optimization. Administer and optimize OpenSearch and/or Elasticsearch clusters for indexing, full-text search, and analytics. Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Monitor database and search platform health, performance, and security using modern observability tools. Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools. Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and application teams to ensure seamless database and search service integration. Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards. 10+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA with a strong focus on PostgreSQL. Solid experience with MySQL and exposure to other databases like MariaDB, MongoDB, or DynamoDB. Deep understanding of AWS services, especially RDS, Aurora, EC2, CloudWatch, and IAM. Proven experience with cloud-native database design and migration strategies. Strong knowledge of Redis and its role in high-performance architectures. Experience with OpenSearch and/or Elasticsearch for search, indexing, and log analytics use cases. Expertise in SQL tuning, query optimization, replication, partitioning, and clustering. Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Shell. Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, pgBadger). Strong communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills. AWS Certified Database - Specialty or equivalent certifications. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, or CloudFormation. Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized database deployments. Experience integrating databases with search engines like OpenSearch/Elasticsearch for analytics and observability. Experience with data archival, data masking, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
