Our client is a Tier 1 UK contractor with a strong track record of delivering major infrastructure and building projects. They are seeking a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to join on a permanent basis to due growth, to strengthen their in-house engineering team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered (CEng) or near-chartered (ICE/IStructE).
• Significant experience in temporary works design within a contractor or consultancy.
• Proficient in design software (e.g. TEDDS, STAAD, Robot).
• Excellent communication, report writing, and problem-solving skills.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will lead the design and assurance of safe, practical, and cost-effective temporary works. This is a key role working closely with site teams, project managers, and external stakeholders to deliver compliant and buildable solutions across a wide range of construction challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

-Lead and check temporary works designs in line with BS 5975 and Eurocodes.
- Deliver design outputs including calculations, drawings, and reports for: structural steel, concrete and timber systems, piling mats and crane platforms, hoardings, formwork and falsework, as well as slope stability and excavation support.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Undertake site inspections and ensure safe implementation of designs.
- Liaise with clients, project teams, and design checkers to resolve queries.
