REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Information Technology
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in the field of expertise

EXPERIENCE WITH INTEGRATED SYSTEMS

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, including independent judgment and decision-making skills, where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
  • Physics-based understanding of the Voice-of-Customer
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues, status and recommendations to leadership
  • Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
  • Ability to prioritize work with only limited direction from manager

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Masters or PhD in Engineering
  • Knowledge of GM electrical architectures and on-vehicle serial protocols
  • Experience and understanding of VIP electrical vehicle architecture
  • Experience working with VSpy/Canalyzer, C/C++

Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

Senior Test Automation Development Engineer for engine controls and diagnostics testing will work in collaborative environment with engineering teams across different organizations developing automated test solutions for complex engine diagnostics, vehicle serial communications and engine calibration. In this role you must have a passion for test automation, innovations, customer initiatives and a desire to become an integral part of our exciting corporate vision: Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute custom engineering scripts and solutions to run in the AutoVal2 environment
    o to create engine diagnostics tests
    o to create controls functions to interface with different data acquisition hardware/software

o to test complex performance diagnostics tests

  • Develop custom engineering scripts and solutions for automated testing of on-vehicle all serial communication protocols CAN, LIN, SENT, Ethernet
  • Develop and document test automation processes and methods to enable engine calibration development with no human intervention.
  • Update Fault Induction Units and Smart Card for up-integrated solutions to support smart sensors testing.
  • Ability of tools development for calibration and diagnostics data collection and validation.
  • Develop electrical test harnesses compatible with the test hardware/tool.
