The Sr. Engineer, Test is responsible for designing test fixtures and protocols, creating test plans to achieve the desired results and/or data, executing tests and ensuring that data collected is accurate and complete. They are also responsible to create test reports and/or verify that reports written by other engineers and/or technicians are accurate. They will perform a variety of tests, including electrical, mechanical, and software tests, to evaluate product and equipment performance against requirements defined in test plans and/or a DVP&R. They will also setup and provide input to the team to maintain the lab test equipment when necessary. This position is a hands-on and on-the-job learning position at Excellerate Appleton Product Development Lab.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Experience working with AC and DC power sources and related products and systems
  • Experience working with power converters & power equipment: high voltage and high power, battery systems, BMS, and modbus and CANbus communication protocols
  • Experience in calibration and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Experience in generating clear and concise test reports.
  • Experience working with lab test equipment: oscilloscope, power analyzer, multi-meter, data loggers
  • Experience in the energy sector; with a focus on microgrid, DER products, power distribution systems and enclosures, battery energy storage systems.
  • Strong understanding of related regulatory frameworks and industry standards related to the relevant energy technologies: Microgrid, Power generation, and Energy storage.

Travel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Provide technical assistance for production support.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
  • Sets up, troubleshoots, and maintains lab testing equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with other engineers, production staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Executes testing setup using various control platforms. Writes and modifies test scripts, executes test scripts and manages data generated.
  • Processes data, documents, and reports key results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to junior engineers
  • Identify and diagnose malfunctions and defects and direct necessary repairs or adjustments to both products and test equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
