Description

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Test Engineer who will lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of testing operations. The senior test engineer will be onsite located in La Porte, TX.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SENIOR TEST ENGINEER INCLUDE:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience testing innovative systems or products in energy, aerospace, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong expertise in test planning, instrumentation, control systems, and operational execution.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams, balancing technical needs, safety protocols, and real-time decision-making.
  • Excellent communicator with a calm, analytical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving under pressure.
  • Familiarity with engineering change management and experience working with high-risk, complex systems is a strong asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in chemical, mechanical, or aerospace disciplines.
Responsibilities
  • Lead daily test operations at the Demonstration Facility, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of system and component tests.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, project management, operations, and partners to meet testing milestones and program priorities.
  • Develop and refine test plans and procedures to translate product and system objectives into actionable schedules for engineers and operators.
  • Drive continuous improvement by updating test procedures based on lessons learned and overseeing facility modifications to ensure readiness and reliability.
  • Ensure safety and data integrity as the technical authority in the control room, responding to anomalies and balancing risk with test goals.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for faults and anomalies, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and protect test value.
