Description

Piper Companies is hiring a Senior Test Engineer for an onsite permanent position located in Houston, TX with a pioneer in clean, dispatchable power through breakthrough natural gas technology. The Senior Test Engineer will lead the daily planning, execution, and troubleshooting of complex system and component tests at a demonstration facility, ensuring safety, performance, and alignment with technical objectives across multidisciplinary teams.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SENIOR TEST ENGINEER INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in chemical, mechanical, or aerospace disciplines
  • At least 8 years of experience testing new or unproven systems in energy, aerospace, or industrial environments
  • Strong background in test planning, instrumentation, control systems, and operational execution
  • Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, balancing technical, safety, and operational priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, analytical approach to real-time problem solving in high-risk environments
Responsibilities
  • Lead daily planning, execution, and reporting of system and component tests at a demonstration facility, ensuring alignment with technical goals and safety standards
  • Coordinate across engineering, operations, and partner teams to meet testing milestones and optimize facility performance
  • Translate test objectives into actionable plans, procedures, and schedules, prioritizing based on program needs and system readiness
  • Oversee facility modifications and component health assessments to minimize downtime and ensure test data integrity
  • Act as the technical authority during live testing, managing anomalies, ensuring safety, and driving root cause investigations
