Description

A Senior Textile Machine Operator is an experienced individual responsible for overseeing and operating complex textile machinery to ensure smooth production and high-quality output in a manufacturing setting. Their duties include machine setup, monitoring, adjusting operations for factors like speed, tension, and temperature, and conducting quality control to meet specifications. They also perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, record production data, and train or support less experienced operators to meet daily production goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation & Monitoring: Start, stop, and monitor a variety of textile machines, such as those for weaving, knitting, twisting, winding, or dyeing, to ensure they operate correctly and efficiently.
  • Setup & Adjustment: Set up machines according to patterns, specifications, or charts, which involves threading yarn, installing components, and programming electronic equipment. Adjusting machine controls for heat, speed, and tension is also a key part of the role.
  • Quality Control: Examine the finished products (like cloth) to detect defects, inconsistencies in color, or other deviations from standards, and make necessary adjustments to machines to correct these issues.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify the causes of machine stoppages or malfunctions and notify supervisors or repair staff. Perform minor adjustments and preventative maintenance on machinery.
  • Production Coordination: Lead the production line, ensure the team meets daily and weekly production goals, and support less experienced team members.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of production quantities, machine settings, temperature readings, and other relevant data.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Extensive experience operating and setting up various types of textile machinery.
  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to interpret specifications, understand machine functions, and perform basic programming for electronic controls.
  • Attention to Detail: A critical eye for detecting defects in materials and identifying variations from production standards.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose issues with machines and implement timely solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with technical training or certifications being a significant advantage.
