Description

HawkEye 360 is currently seeking a Senior Thermal Mechanical Engineer to join the Space Team. The mission of the Space Systems Engineering group is to build, test, launch, operate and maintain a constellation of small commercial satellites. The Space Systems group is also responsible for operating a segment of ground stations to provide communications with these satellites. The satellite clusters and ground segments provide the platform for RF data collection that is essential to HawkEye’s core business.
HawkEye 360 is looking for a candidate with good technical leadership with attention to detail, who is creative and has a passion for working with and developing new innovative technology.

As the Senior Thermal Mechanical Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Perform thermal analysis and provide thermal design suggestions from subsystem to spacecraft level
  • Work closely with system engineers to meet thermal requirements for the various orbital cases
  • Ensure model and analysis traceability through proper documentation
  • Support mechanical hardware design as required including part and assembly drawings
  • Assist with integration and testing of flight hardware at all stages of spacecraft development
  • Support thermal testing on subsystems and spacecraft by building test procedures

YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters’s degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical/Aerospace preferred) or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in the space industry with a focus on heat transfer, thermal analysis, or aerothermodynamics
  • Experience with a Thermal Desktop and can correlate test results with thermal models
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (Siemens NX preferred)
  • Understanding of spacecraft systems and orbital mechanics
  • A good attitude and team-oriented spirit

Desirable:

  • Experience analyzing and designing space flight hardware
  • Hands on experience with flight hardware
  • Understanding of standard aerospace test practices (TVAC/Vibe)
  • A curious outlook – willingness to learn new things and solutions to fit the problem
  • Experience in a fast-paced, company where priorities can change rapidly

Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000 annually
HawkEye 360 offers a compensation package that includes a competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and benefits. We consider many factors when determining salary offers, such as candidate’s work experience, education, training & skills, as well as market and business considerations. We are also open to considering candidates with experience and qualifications at a different level than required in a job posting, which may affect the compensation package offered.
