Job Description
As a Senior Trade Compliance Analyst, you will be responsible for contributing to and leading a range of activities designed to maintain compliance with international trade laws. The core technical disciplines of focus of this newly created position are the export controls and trade sanctions/restrictive measures that apply to ServiceNow. This role will work collaboratively with members of the Ethics and Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Alliance & Channel Ecosystem, and Sales teams at ServiceNow. The successful candidate must be reliable, resourceful, and have a “can-do” attitude.
This position will report to the Director, Legal – Export & Trade Compliance Counsel in the Ethics & Compliance team and will be based in Dublin, Ireland. This is a hybrid position requiring at least two days per week in the ServiceNow office in Dublin. This is a global role and the successful candidate will address challenges that arise in a number of countries in which ServiceNow is subject to export control or trade sanctions/restrictive measures legal requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Develop mechanisms and procedures for robust diligence assessments of customers, end-users, and end-usages required by applicable export control and trade sanctions/restrictive measures legal requirements (including those of the United States, the European Union, and individual Member States of the European Union)
  • For the purpose of compliance with applicable trade laws, devise review standards and related documentation designed to obtain reliable data on the nature of ServiceNow customers and the nature of how those customers use ServiceNow product offerings
  • Evaluate the business models and business operations of customers and end-users to identify potential end-users or end-usages of ServiceNow products that are restricted or prohibited by applicable export control or trade sanctions/restrictive measures laws
  • Lead the daily implementation of reviews of customers, end-users, and end-usages and resolve technical legal questions emerging from such implementation
  • Review and analyze changes in applicable export control and trade sanctions/restrictive measures legal requirements to determine if ServiceNow practices require modifications to accommodate such legal changes
  • Harness data necessary to complete robust trade compliance review, including the consolidation of such data from various internal and external sources
  • Support efforts to apply for, or otherwise secure, licenses or other forms of authorization from trade regulatory officials necessary to enable customer engagements
  • Assess the effectiveness of trade compliance processes and procedures with an ability to identify improvement opportunities
  • Communicate and collaborate with business leaders regarding trade compliance risks and related controls
  • Support and partner with key business teams (e.g., Sales, Marketing, etc.) to operationalize trade compliance program requirements
  • Provide training on export control and trade sanctions topics to colleagues, including developing and delivering targeted microburst training
  • Participate in risk assessments related to export control and trade sanctions legal requirements

Qualifications

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., Master’s degree + 6 years related work experience, 10 years related work experience, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience with the export controls and trade sanctions/restrictive measures laws of the European Union [including Regulation (EU) 2021/821], various Member States of the European Union, and the United States (particularly the U.S. Export Administration Regulations and the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations)
  • Prior technical experience working on a trade compliance team, ideally with a “know your customer” assessment focus, at a global technology sector company or with the trade compliance practice of a Big 4 firm
  • Proven ability to work independently and to complete projects in a timely fashion
  • Strong project management, organization, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience working with and partnering with cross-functional and cross-border teams on projects and initiatives that include global colleagues
  • High integrity in handling sensitive legal information and business confidential information
  • The ability to travel as necessary (estimated to be less than 10%)

Not sure if you meet every qualification? We still encourage you to apply! We value inclusivity, welcoming candidates from diverse backgrounds, including non-traditional paths. Unique experiences enrich our team, and the willingness to dream big makes you an exceptional candidate!
