Job Description Segula Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Transformer Technical Support Manager to provide specialist technical expertise across the full lifecycle of distribution and power transformers and reactors, ranging from 11kV to 400kV. This is a senior, technically focused role supporting specification development, factory activities, quality assurance, and compliance with international standards and asset requirements. Role Overview You will act as a recognised transformer subject‑matter expert, supporting the Client in ensuring that transformer assets are specified, manufactured, tested, and delivered in accordance with industry best practice, IEC standards, and specifications. The role will involve close working with manufacturers, inspectors, and internal stakeholders, offering authoritative technical oversight and independent assurance. Key Responsibilities Technical Specifications Develop and review power transformer procurement specifications (11kV–400kV) in line with industry best practice. Develop and review transformer installation specifications for transmission and distribution networks. Factory & Manufacturing Support Review transformer designs and produce compliance reports against IEC standards and Client requirements. Approve factory equipment and manufacturing processes. Conduct manufacturing inspections at defined hold points, assessing: Construction arrangements Quality of workmanship Compliance with internal manufacturing procedures, standards, and Client specifications Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and produce detailed technical reports on test procedures and outcomes. Lead or support manufacturing capability and quality audits, using CIGRE TB 530 as a guide. Asset Coverage Distribution and power transformers (11kV–400kV) Oil‑filled and dry‑type reactors (11kV–400kV) Qualifications Essential Skills & Experience Recognised industry transformer expert with demonstrable technical authority. Significant UK electricity industry experience, gained within a utility, consultancy, or both. In‑depth working knowledge of IEC 60076 – Power Transformers (all parts). Proven experience with: Transformer design review and inspection Factory surveillance and FAT witnessing Quality audits and manufacturing assessments Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a relevant professional institution.
