Lauderdale] Department: UT Reports To: Vice President, Transportation Your work environment at EXP We are seeking a Senior Transit Planner to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of multimodal and transit projects. This position involves managing complex transit corridor and facility planning efforts, integrating multimodal design elements, conducting public involvement, and coordinating with local, regional, and federal partners. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, policy understanding, and leadership in shaping equitable, sustainable transit systems. What a day at EXP has in store for you Lead the development of transit corridor studies, multimodal plans, BRT and rail planning projects. Conduct route planning, scheduling, and service optimization studies using operational and ridership data. Coordinate NEPA and PD&E processes for transit capital projects, including environmental and socioeconomic impact analyses. Manage public engagement and stakeholder coordination activities, ensuring equitable participation. Prepare and review grant applications, including FTA Small Starts/New Starts and other federal funding programs. Manage transit ridership forecasting and travel demand modeling in coordination with regional partners. Provide project management, including budgets, schedules, task assignments, and quality assurance. Mentor and guide junior planners and interdisciplinary teams on multimodal and transit planning practices. Represent the firm/agency at meetings, workshops, and conferences. What your experience looks like Education: Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation, Geography, or related field (Master’s preferred). Experience: 20+ years of progressive experience in transit planning, multimodal transportation, or systems planning. Technical Skills: Transit planning tools (TransCAD, Remix, ArcGIS, EMME, Cube, or GTFS data analysis); familiarity with FTA processes; understanding of transit operations, scheduling, and fleet management; strong writing and presentation skills. Preferred Certifications: AICP, PTP, or PMP. Preferred Knowledge Areas Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), light rail, and commuter rail planning. Multimodal corridor and complete streets design. Integration of technology in transit (real-time data, fare systems, ITS). Equity and accessibility planning (Title VI, ADA, EJ). Climate resilience and sustainability in transit planning.
