Your role and responsibilities Your day-to-day responsibilities will include responding to planning consultations on behalf of the Local Highway Authority that will involve liaising with a variety of people, internally and externally, to agree design principles for new development. You will work to secure infrastructure improvements to mitigate the impact of development using your skills and experience of highways and planning. You will play a key role in enhancing accessibility for all in Suffolk. You will also support colleagues with developing town wide transport plans including proposals for suitable schemes in those locations. You will manage the work of Transport Planning Engineers and Technicians and assist with their development. You will need passion for promoting high standards of sustainable transport in new developments by influencing a wide audience as to the benefits for the people of Suffolk high level understanding of all aspects of highway design and construction and relevant sections of the Highway Act significant experience in interpreting complex transport assessments and responding to developers/consultants capability of representing the team at meetings with internal and external organisations (as appropriate) to provide expert advice in area of work, sometimes in challenging circumstances. The team The Transport Planning Teams forms part of the Transport Strategy team, helping to deliver growth across Suffolk This includes, Development Management, ensuring new developments are sustainable in highway terms to support Suffolk’s growth ambitions. Securing funding, and the delivery of new transport infrastructure and initiatives, including active travel. You will be part of a team that works together to provide comments on the suitability of new development in highway terms to local planning authorities.
