Role description:
Due to consistent growth in our Infrastructure business, we are seeking a Senior Transport Technology Engineer to provide leadership, technical expertise, and project management within the Business Area. Reporting to the Team Leader/Discipline Leader, the role involves delivering innovative and sustainable transport technology solutions, managing projects, fostering client relationships, and contributing to strategic business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

First and foremost, you share our passion for improving quality of life. You are a seasoned transport technology professional with strong industry ties and demonstrated credibility in a consulting environment. You will come to us with:

  • Relevant engineering degree with Chartered status (or equivalent); post-graduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • 7+ years’ experience in ITS, Communications Design, Traffic Engineering, or related fields within consultancy or construction.
  • Communications Networks & Design: Experience with communication systems, including design and implementation.
  • Systems Engineering: Expertise in developing and assessing transport technology systems.
  • Power and Asset Design: Proficiency in electrical engineering, power systems, and asset planning.
  • ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems): Hands-on design and implementation of ITS solutions.
  • Civil & Electrical Design Understanding: Beneficial knowledge of civil engineering and electrical design practices for real world applications
  • Feasibility Assessment: Ability to see the big picture and assess project feasibility and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Project Management: Strong project management experience to work through the hands-on design expertise needed in delivering solutions.

Responsibilities

Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and traffic engineering design projects.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring budgets, quality, and timeframes are met.
  • Develop infrastructure designs from tender/concept through to detailed construction by working with teams to develop engineering solutions and document these.
  • Manage subcontractors, quality assurance, and client communication.
  • Undertake systems engineering assessments and strategic planning for transport technology.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated designs.
  • Provide technical advice, leadership, and mentorship to team members.
  • Build industry networks and maintain effective client relationships.
  • Handle commercial aspects of projects, including contracts, invoicing, and risk management.
  • Promote best-value solutions and innovation while ensuring health and safety compliance.
